Migration to ControlLogix – an easy move
We have developed a migration strategy that will allow users to quickly and easily migrate from Modicon Controllers and 800 Series I/O to Integrated Architecture, while maintaining the existing field wiring and physical footprint in your control cabinet.

The Bulletin 1492 Wiring Conversion System enables the field wiring on a particular 800 I/O module terminal block (swing-arm) to be maintained, so there is no or very limited rewiring required to convert to a compatible 1756 I/O module.
The Bulletin 1492 Wiring Conversion System also provides a fast and efficient way to convert existing I/O field wires from a Bulletin 1771 I/O system to a Bulletin 1756 I/O system. It enables the field wiring on a particular Bulletin 1771 I/O module terminal block (swing-arm) to be maintained, minimizing the rewiring required to convert to a compatible 1756 I/O module.
For more than three decades, we have expanded the PLC-5/1771 I/O product offering and added features to meet customer needs. Currently, the PLC-5 and 1771 I/O product line comprise several hundred products, and it is our intent to continue to offer every product for as long as reasonably practical.
Updating aging control systems is increasingly vital to maintain productivity. As these systems age, parts become more vulnerable to problems, more difficult to procure and knowledge of these aging systems becomes scarce. For those interested in increasing system performance, reliability and maintainability, we have created a migration strategy that allows for a smooth transition to the more scalable, flexible Integrated Architecture from Modicon 984 or Quantum Controller and 800 Series I/O.
Migrating from your Modicon system to a current ControlLogix system is made easy with hardware that preserves existing wiring while replacing vulnerable controllers and I/O. Program conversion services and assistance are available to further reduce conversion risk and keep downtime to a minimum.
The Bulletin 1492 Wiring Conversion System reduces the rewiring process by using conversion modules. The conversion modules provide the mating connections to the specific Modicon 800 I/O terminal block with the attached field wires. It routes those field signals, via a standard 1492 wiring system connector and a 1492 pre-wired cable to the compatible terminals of the 1756 I/O module.
The conversion modules are housed in a conversion assembly base-plate which uses the same mounting footprint and panel mounting holes as the Modicon 800 I/O Housing it replaces. Therefore, no new holes need be drilled in the control cabinet.
